Whistler Square Townhouse Banda Design's Masterpiece in Belgravia
Situated in Chelsea Barracks in London's most exclusive Belgravia district, Whistler Square Townhouse is a 12,000 sq ft seven-bedroom townhouse created by renowned design studio Banda. The epitome of the spirit of Banda, the house blends elegance, history and modern aesthetics, creating a quiet and luxurious contemporary expression with exquisite craftsmanship and sculptural furniture.

Founded by Edo Mapelli Mozzi, Banda is a London-based design firm that has gained a worldwide reputation for its highly recognizable aesthetic language and relentless pursuit of quality. Whistler Square Townhouse is undoubtedly one of its most iconic projects in the UK. Described by Mapelli Mozzi as "one of London's most extraordinary modern estates", the townhouses are surrounded by five acres of landscaped gardens, offering a rare sense of light, space and peace in the heart of London.

Inspired by the site's military past, Banda reinterprets this heritage through the exquisite reinvention of metalwork, wood work and textiles. The overall color palette is dominated by deep navy blue, wine red, black, dark brown and sand, creating a masculine, restrained and layered atmosphere. Banda Design Studio's custom wood work is very present throughout the house, conveying a solid and warm texture.

In terms of the interior layout, the house has high ceilings and spacious rooms, allowing the design team to boldly introduce large, sculptural furniture. In the living room, Charlotte Biltgen's Ecume sofa takes center stage with its organic, flowing shape, and is paired with Banda's self-designed eggshell white micro-cement coffee table to create a natural and contemporary sculptural tension. In the restaurant, Maxime Boutillier's Cassandre armchairs complement Martin Masse's limited edition travertine countertop table and Eva Menz's bronze chandelier, creating a dining atmosphere that is both architectural and comfortable.

Every piece of furniture, every piece of art has been carefully selected and planned, such as art curation generally exists in the space, rather than passively placed. "For us, these are not just furniture - they are heirlooms for the future," stresses Mapelli Mozzi. Art plays a crucial role in this. From Aythamy Armas's "deeply emotional" paintings, to Rebecca Charlez's acceptance of imperfect sculptural walls, to Matthias Fabre's abstract paintings and Anton Byrne Carter's The Trainer, Each work forms a deep dialogue with the space and evokes an emotional response from the viewer.

The master bedroom has the intimate feel of a boutique hotel: bespoke burr walnut bed frames with Danish banana sofas, deep royal blue velvet, wall lights by Olivia Bossy and art by Alzueta Gallery create a warm and luxurious atmosphere. The whole house presents a "flowing" spatial logic, the wide structure breaks the limitations of a typical Belgravia house and makes the transition between rooms more natural and coherent. Banda uses subtle color changes to create an art gallery-like narrative in the space.

Whistler Square Townhouse demonstrates Banda's deep understanding of design, craftsmanship and materials, as well as a definition of lifestyle that strikes an unprecedented balance between history and modernity, nature and the urban, elegance and utility. This is a "quiet luxury" residence in the true sense of the word.

Nestled in the heart of London’s prestigious Belgravia district, the Whistler Square Townhouse stands as a testament to Banda Design’s mastery of blending elegance, history, and modern aesthetics.
